About us

Thank you for visiting our page.

As you can see, Basil is a real cat! ☺ While I was writing the book, little Basil grew up and became a beautiful, loving cat and an integral part of our family and the project. He is also my reliable assistant: he always gnaws pages with interest, sleeps on the book, leaves quotation paw marks on freshly printed sheets.

Basil became not only a small hero of the book, but also a big part of my life, giving me warmth and unconditional love. I realised that by taking care of animals, we ourselves learn to be kinder and more caring.

The idea of writing a study book became an urgent necessity when I started working with children. During a significant period of language teaching in Great Britain, it became obvious that there is a lack of educational materials for the age category 4+, who learn Ukrainian as a foreign language. Textbooks, manuals, and fiction for children for whom Ukrainian is not their native language, or is a second native language, must be specially developed and structured according to the appropriate methodology.

It is important for me that learning the Ukrainian language for kids should be an exciting interactive process, not a challenge. If not, they may quickly lose interest. Therefore, there are logical tasks and bright illustrations, short texts and large font – everything is aimed at retaining attention and developing the child’s language.

My little students all around the world became the first readers of this book. All tasks are tested and improved, with interesting topics to learn in each lesson. This makes it easy for parents to teach and practice the language without any additional materials. Ion short, this book was created with love to Ukraine, its language, children and animals.

And here I want to thank the great ever illustrator Tetyana Galagutska, without whom the book would not have been possible. Thank you for your ideas, dedication, vision and ability to turn words into such magical images! 25 wonderful cats and a large number of other characters were born and now entertain children with their cute faces.

I’m also deeply grateful to my family and friends, your support was and is invaluable! Thank you for believing in me, for your comments and advice. Your contribution brought this book to life.

Learn with pleasure and enjoy the book.

With love Vlada and Basil
